Why We Started
When the service is free, you are the product. We got tired of that deal. Libertas Mobile was built on a simple premise: your data belongs to you, and any device or service that routes around that isn’t working for you — it’s working against you. We’re based in Austin, Texas. Builder, operator, radio enthusiast. No VC funding. No surveillance business model.
What We Do
We sell privacy-configured mobile devices shipped ready to use — hardened, degoogled, and set up with your privacy in mind from day one. No setup required. No compromises baked in. We also build tools for community awareness and transparency. That includes Battle Buddy — Austin’s real-time AI public safety monitoring platform, which listens to P25 radio traffic, transcribes it, and delivers structured incident intelligence to journalists, news desks, and community members who want to know what’s actually happening.
Our Philosophy
Privacy isn’t paranoia. It’s property rights applied to your own data. You wouldn’t hand a stranger your mail to read before you do. You shouldn’t hand a corporation your location, contacts, and conversations in exchange for a free app. We think that’s a bad trade, and we build products for people who agree.
